The Deeper Well is a vintage select wine made from our most age worth Shiraz parcels after eighteen months ageing in French oak barrels each year. The wine is then only released at five years of age.

This wild fermented single vineyard wine builds complexity from two different types of Shiraz grown on two different geologies in adjoining blocks at Inkwell. Only 768 bottles produced.

2011 was one of Inkwell’s great vintages. The cool vintage permitted the Deeper Well grapes to ripen almost a month longer than most years allowing for the full development of dark chocolate, tar and licorice flavors Inkwell is known for. Fine tannins spread Deeper Well evenly across the palate and provide for a long finish. TA 5.8g/l, pH 3.61, 14.7% alc/vol
