2024 Inkwell Gravity's Gone Grenache

from A$32.00

A new chapter for Grenache at Inkwell.  For years, Piece of My Heart Grenache was crafted from Block 1, but as we explored our vineyard further, we found something even better—a Grenache clone that thrives in Block 2’s deep sandy soils, delivering greater balance, purity, and vibrancy. The result is 2024 Gravity’s Gone Grenache, a seamlessly mid-weight expression of McLaren Vale’s most exciting varietal.

At Inkwell, every wine is a reflection of the land it comes from—its soil, its climate, and the way we care for it. Block 2’s deep sandy soils shape a Grenache that is elegant, lifted, and finely structured, emphasizing purity over power. Sandy soils encourage a silky texture, bright aromatics, and a mineral-driven freshness, making this wine as effortless as it is expressive.

We farm this vineyard with regenerative practices—no herbicides, diverse ground cover, and a focus on soil vitality—allowing the vines to express their full potential while ensuring the land continues to thrive for generations.

Fermented in neutral barrels to preserve its delicate fruit and fine tannins, then aged in an egg-shaped concrete tank, this Grenache is all about texture and energy. The unique shape of the concrete vessel naturally enhances the wine’s movement, creating gentle lees circulation that builds mouthfeel without adding oak weight. Concrete also allows for micro-oxygenation, softening tannins while maintaining the freshness, precision, and site-driven minerality that define this wine.

Tasting Notes

Bright, lifted aromatics of wild strawberry, raspberry, and red cherry lead into layers of white pepper, rose petal, and sun-warmed earth. The palate is silky and pure, with delicate structure and vibrant and balanced acidity, finishing long with a whisper of minerality. Lighter than many McLaren Vale Grenaches, this is a wine of elegance and effortless drinkability.
